Two Critical Sites. Zero Fiber Cuts. One Wireless Edge.
A Fortune 1000 energy infrastructure company needed resilient, high-upload connectivity at two remote critical sites. Metro Wireless bonded Starlink and multi-carrier 5G with MetroBONDx4, going live in seven days instead of a 180-day fiber build.

About A Fortune 1000 energy infrastructure and building services company
The client is a Fortune 1000 energy leader, described in the case study as a national energy infrastructure and building services company that helps education, government, commercial and industrial customers become more efficient, productive and sustainable. Its operations depend on real-time cloud data, secure communications and seamless connectivity across offices, and its corporate IT standards mandate 99.9% uptime, multi-carrier redundancy and static IP addressing at its sites.

The challenge
The company needed to upgrade connectivity at two mission-critical office locations. Its legacy internet could not deliver the broadcast-quality upload speeds its operations required, and productivity was suffering. Beyond speed, strict internal IT mandates called for 13 static IPs, 99.9% uptime and multi-carrier redundancy to prevent outages, all under corporate security compliance rules.
Fiber was the obvious answer and the wrong one. A fiber build was priced in the mid-six figures and required a minimum 180-day installation timeframe. Because of the sites' remote location, a single fiber line would also have been vulnerable to cuts and flooding along its entire distance, so it could not provide the network diversity the firm needed.
With a short deployment deadline, traditional wired solutions were off the table. The firm needed enterprise-grade performance without the delays, and a wireless alternative became the only viable fix.
The solution
The firm contacted Metro Wireless about its MetroBONDx4 solution, a service that combines available wireless signals and transforms them into an enterprise-grade, high-speed internet circuit. Metro Wireless assessed the wireless assets available at the location and recommended a four-circuit bonded solution.
Metro Wireless designed, provisioned and shipped a custom wireless system for each site. MetroBONDx4 combines the reach of Starlink's satellites with the speed of multiple 5G networks, and the signals are intelligently managed by Peplink SpeedFusion routers so traffic flows smoothly across all circuits. Bonding multiple WAN links provides bandwidth of up to 500x200 Mbps while also providing carrier redundancy for high-uptime environments, which addressed the firm's network diversity mandate without a single fiber path.
Execution was fast. Within 24 hours of approval, equipment was staged while teams coordinated 5G activations and conducted pre-installation site surveys. The two locations were deployed simultaneously, with Starlink dishes and 5G antennas positioned for optimal signal strength and Peplink routers configured on site to integrate all circuits into one bonded network. The entire system, including end-to-end performance testing, was operational in seven days, and rigorous speed and reliability checks confirmed it met every enterprise requirement.

The results
- Both sites connected in seven days, against a minimum 180-day timeline for the fiber alternative
- 100 Mbps upload speeds achieved, meeting the broadcast-quality requirement and exceeding expectations
- Bonded circuit provides up to 500x200 Mbps with quad-carrier diversity for carrier-grade uptime
- Mid-six-figure fiber build avoided, along with the risk of cuts and flooding on a single line
- Equipment staged within 24 hours of approval; all circuits integrated into one seamless bonded network
