About Legacy

For 40 years, Legacy has grown and evolved as a pioneering transportation and logistics provider. Businesses depend on the Legacy team to create control over their dynamic omni-channel supply chains, so they can stay more connected to their consumers and ultimately deliver better experiences. The company's IT organisation is led by its CIO, Jim, whose team had worked with Acrisure Cyber Services on earlier business and preferred to stay hands-on in its own systems.

The challenge

Like so many organisations, Legacy was caught off guard by its insurance company. It was informed that certain cybersecurity controls had to be implemented if it was to be approved for its cyber policy renewal. The requirement arrived at the last minute, leaving a short window in which to select a provider, scope and design a solution, and put the controls in place.

The stakes were clear: without the required controls, the renewal could not be approved. Legacy needed a partner that could scope and design the solution quickly and correctly, that understood the insurance industry as it relates to cyber security, and that could work alongside its own IT team rather than take the installation out of its hands.

We've been working with these folks for years and there was no doubt who my first call was going to be!

Jim, CIO, Legacy

The solution

Jim, Legacy's CIO, and his team were already familiar with Acrisure Cyber Services (ACS) from earlier business together and asked ACS for help. He knew ACS could work quickly with his team to scope and design the solution correctly.

In less than two weeks, contracts were signed and the ACS team began implementation of its suite of services: multi-factor authentication (MFA), email security, advanced anti-virus, vulnerability management, SIEM, data backup and security awareness training. Legacy elected to be more hands-on in the installation process, so ACS acted as the managed security service provider (MSSP), giving direction and assistance while Legacy's own staff were the primary hands on keyboards.

ACS delivered the necessary cybersecurity services at the moment the client most needed them, at a critical juncture in Legacy's cyber maturity. Jim was impressed by the speed and thoroughness of ACS's capabilities and its attention to detail, and the engagement strengthened the existing relationship, with ACS expecting to expand its offering to Legacy over time.

The results

  • Contracts signed and implementation under way in less than two weeks
  • Cybersecurity controls required by the insurer put in place for the cyber policy renewal
  • Legacy's own team stayed hands-on, with ACS providing MSSP direction and assistance
  • Relationship strengthened, with ACS expecting to expand its services to Legacy over time
