Northeast Investment Management Partners with Thrive to Enhance IT Resilience and Security
Northeast Investment Management, a Boston RIA with nearly $3 billion in assets, outsourced its IT and cybersecurity to Thrive, migrating to ThriveCloud and gaining compliance-focused support without adding in-house IT staff.

About Northeast Investment Management, Inc. (NIM)
Northeast Investment Management, Inc. (NIM) is a registered investment advisor (RIA) based in Boston. The firm manages nearly $3 billion in assets for individual clients and family offices. As an RIA, it operates under regulatory best-practice expectations for cybersecurity and client-data privacy. NIM recently relocated its Boston office and relied on Thrive to move its entire IT infrastructure to the new location.
The challenge
As a registered investment advisor overseeing nearly $3 billion for individual clients and family offices, Northeast Investment Management operates under strict expectations for cybersecurity, privacy and regulatory compliance. The firm wanted a complete, outsourced technology solution that would let it focus on its core business while safeguarding client data, following regulatory best practices and supporting remote access for its team.
NIM had originally started working with Tier1Net, a provider later acquired by Thrive, on the strength of a trusted recommendation. As its needs matured, the firm needed a single-source partner with a proactive approach to IT management and specific expertise in investment advisory compliance, rather than a general IT vendor. The alternative, hiring additional in-house IT staff, would have added time and cost.
The stakes rose further when NIM moved its Boston office. The relocation required the firm's entire IT infrastructure to be transitioned to the new location without disrupting operations or weakening its security and compliance posture.
With Thrive, we don't have to worry about our IT systems. They're proactive, knowledgeable, and dependable. This partnership lets us focus on our clients, knowing our data is secure and compliant.
The solution
Thrive provided NIM with a comprehensive managed IT and security suite spanning network management, software maintenance, data security and staff training. The engagement covers ThriveCloud, backup and disaster recovery, EBMS firewall, switching and wireless, managed detection and response (MDR), vulnerability scanning, an end-user security bundle, operating-system and third-party patching for workstations and servers, password management, security monitoring, Office 365 licensing and management, end-user support and vCIO advisory services.
Thrive managed NIM's migration to ThriveCloud, giving the firm a secure, cloud-based environment and improved remote accessibility. When the firm moved its Boston office, Thrive handled the transition of the entire IT infrastructure to the new location.
Beyond infrastructure, the program includes cybersecurity training for staff, with phishing tests used to keep the team vigilant against evolving threats. Thrive's knowledge of investment advisory compliance, particularly cybersecurity and privacy, underpins the service. As Chief Compliance Officer Richard Manoogian put it, the specialized, single-source IT and security support keeps NIM on track with industry standards.
