About Global Endowment Management (GEM)

Global Endowment Management (GEM) is a leading Outsourced Chief Investment Office (OCIO) serving charitable foundations, universities, research institutions and policy organizations. GEM assumes full fiduciary responsibility for its clients' investment strategies, managing asset allocation, risk and reporting with precision and discretion. A fast-growing firm with global operations, its reputation depends on always-on access to sensitive financial systems and communication platforms, and its clients expect continuity, security and professionalism, especially during uncertain times.

The challenge

In 2018, GEM issued a competitive RFP to reevaluate its managed IT providers for two reasons. Internal vendor underwriting policies required reassessment every three to five years, and the firm's previous MSP lacked the scale, security maturity and responsiveness required to support GEM's global workforce and evolving security requirements.

As Charlie Weeks, GEM's Director of Systems and Technology, explained, the firm's investors are long-term stewards who expect their partners to stand the test of time, which means the IT infrastructure must be both resilient and secure. GEM needed a provider that could deliver 24/7/365 support, scale with its growth and understand the expectations of a high-touch financial services firm.

The new provider would also have to deliver enterprise-grade support, align with business continuity and cybersecurity best practices, and scale without compromise as the firm grew.

We have a complex environment and see value and ROI in having Logically as our MSP. They know our users, deliver expert service, and aren't afraid to work long hours. Given the world's reliance on technology, we're all IT companies now.

The solution

Logically was selected in 2019 based on its cyber-first managed services, organizational depth and ability to deliver both tactical support and strategic advisory. What began as a vendor RFP evolved into a multi-year collaboration that now underpins GEM's operational resilience and end-user experience.

The engagement includes a 24/7/365 remote helpdesk staffed with experienced engineers, and a Professional Services division for infrastructure, virtualization and data center transitions. Logically also provides proactive security guidance and infrastructure updates aligned with evolving cyber risks, giving the firm both day-to-day support and longer-term advisory.

Business continuity planning was a central design choice. Logically built remote work readiness kits with enterprise-grade configurations, including Zoom Enterprise licenses, laptops, docking stations, dual monitors and secured network access. Those kits ensured uninterrupted productivity during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

GEM continues to collaborate with Logically on forward-looking infrastructure and cybersecurity strategies, so that as markets evolve the firm's operations remain resilient, secure and high-performing.
